Established under the Meghalaya State legislative Act, 2010 (Meghalaya Act No. 6 of 2011), Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) stands as a beacon of higher education in the North East. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, MGU is empowered to award degrees across a diverse range of disciplines and approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Bar Council of India (BCI), Meghalaya Nursing Council (MNC), Indian Nursing Council (INC), various Skill Sector Councils (SSCs) Government of India, and Member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
