3. Powers of the Chancellor

4. Appointment of the Vice-Chancellor

  • According to Section 14, the Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from a panel of three candidates recommended by the Board of Governors.
  • The Vice-Chancellor's term shall be four years, with eligibility for reappointment for one additional term.
  • The Vice-Chancellor shall serve as the principal executive and academic officer of the University.

5. Powers and Responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellor

  • The Vice-Chancellor shall:
    • Exercise general supervision and control over University affairs and implement decisions of its authorities.
    • Take immediate action on urgent matters within the jurisdiction of other authorities and report such actions to the relevant authority at the earliest (Section 14(4)).

  • Salaries, allowances, and other financial benefits of employees shall be determined in accordance with Section 41(2)(e) of the Act, ensuring parity with industry standards and compliance with statutory regulations.

5. General Fund

  • Under Section 41, the University shall maintain a General Fund to which the following shall be credited:
